June 9th 2025 - Italian Minister Pichetto Fratin (Ministry for the Environment and Energy Security) visits SIET: innovation and research for the energy of the future

SIET welcomes the visit of Environment and Energy Security Minister Gilberto Pichetto Fratin

SIET's headquarters in Piacenza today welcomed a visit from the Minister of the Environment and Energy Security Gilberto Pichetto Fratin, an important recognition of the strategic role that the company plays in the Italian and international energy scene. The Minister was welcomed by President Giorgio Graditi, CEO Alfredo Luce, the Board of Directors and shareholder representatives, together with the Mayor of Piacenza, Katia Tarasconi, thus underlining the strong link between the company and the territory.

The meeting began with the presentation of the company, illustrating its current activities, its main researchs, development and innovation projects, medium-term prospects and SIET's contribution to the development of the Italian nuclear industry.

Afterwards, the Minister and guests had the opportunity to visit the experimental facilities and infrastructures located in SIET's headquarters, and more precisely in the former Emilia Power Plant. A historical building, protected and little known to the public, which houses experimental facilities and plants with unique characteristics in terms of capacity and potential. These facilities represent a model of excellence in the energy sector thanks to their ability to simulate real operating conditions and test innovative technological solutions for the safety of nuclear plants, as well as provide highly qualified technical-scientific and advanced engineering services. SIET's state-of-the-art infrastructures make it possible to assess the efficiency and safety of energy systems with adequate reliability, contributing significantly to the progress of the energy transition and decarbonisation.

Minister Pichetto Fratin emphasised the importance of vision, ambition and expertise to tackle global energy challenges, highlighting the fundamental contribution of scientific and technological research.

The Minister's institutional visit is a great recognition of the commitment of SIET and its staff to drive innovation through rigour, science and technology.
