Start of the european project LESTO
The research and training program of the European Atomic Energy Community (Euratom Program) aims to carry out research and training activities in the nuclear field, focusing on the continuous improvement of nuclear safety, security and radiation protection, and to complement the realization of the objectives of Horizon Europe.
In the topic HORIZON-EURATOM-2023-NRT-01-03: Safety of advanced and innovative nuclear designs, the LESTO project owns a total budget of nearly 6 million euro and has a total duration of 4 years: from November 2024 to October 2028.
LESTO acronym stands for LEad fast reactor Safety design and TOols.
The main objective of LESTO is to support the integration and the further development of LFR (Lead-cooled Fast Reactor) technology, in synergy with other LFR EU projects focusing on safety features and passive safety systems.
The LESTO project gathers 23 partners from 9 countries.
SIET company is among the beneficiaries of the LESTO european research project. SIET, as a testing laboratory, is planned to contribute to WP2 (Work package 2) with the SIRIO facility which will be used to test of advanced passive safety systems.
The kick off meeting of the whole project including the various WPs (Work packages) took place in Bologna, Italy on November 21st and 22nd.
